smoke not fog [ work in progress ]

smoke not fog is an emerging feminist solo performance in which I conjure a shifting topography of extreme physicality, sonority, light, and shadow. The work engages a tonal range from the intimate and sensual to the porous and grotesque, marked by a churning and volatile physicality that traverses a pathway between horizontality and verticality. Smoke not Fog situates my body as both in and of the ecology of the performance space, drawing on remembered atmospheres of the Pacific Northwest to create an aesthetic collage of bleeding, strained reverberations, and distortion.
